The Devil’s Backbone is a 2001 gothic horror film directed by Guillermo del Toro, and written by del Toro, David Muoz, and Antonio Trashorras. It was independently produced by Pedro Almodvar, and filmed in Madrid. The mournful parable of the Santa Lucia School during the last days of the Spanish Civil War. An imposing rock building set as soon as insinuation to a desolate plateau, the educational shelters the orphans of the Republican militia and politicians, and accumulation unaccompanied children. Upon his beginning at Santa Lucia, 10-year-pass Carlos is confronted as soon as the attack of Jaime, the oldest of the children. Besides aged professor Casares, the adult personnel of the learned includes Carmen, the steely headmistress; Alma, choice scholarly; Conchita, the chef; and the youngster caretaker Jacinto. Aggressive and covetous, Jacinto is filled gone insult for the intellectual that houses him and the teachers that raised him. Gradually, Carlos uncovers the dark ties that bind the inhabitants of the literary, including the unsigned that haunts them–Santi, a student who was brutally murdered, and whose feeble ghost now wanders the grounds. Who killed Santi upon the night considering a bomb fell in the center of the courtyard, miraculously without exploding?
